Pause before you give access

Home

Fraudsters may contact you after you have submitted a complaint or requested a refund, claiming to represent an authorised entity, clinic, dispute team or other trusted organisation.

They may tell you that your refund has been approved and ask you to download a remote access app such as AnyDesk, TeamViewer, Zoho Assist or a similar application. This can allow them to view your screen and potentially access sensitive information.

Once they have access, they can guide you into opening your banking app, approving payments, adding a new beneficiary or transferring money under the pretence of processing your refund. Emirates NBD will never ask you to take these steps to receive a refund.

How to protect yourself:

  • Be cautious of unexpected calls claiming that a refund has been approved.
  • Never download a remote access app at someone else’s request.
  • Never share your Online Banking password, PIN, card details or One-Time Passwords (OTPs).
  • Do not add an unknown beneficiary or transfer money to receive a refund.
  • End the call if you are asked to provide access to your device or banking information.
  • Contact Emirates NBD through official channels if you are unsure about a request.

Always pause and verify before acting on an unexpected refund call. A caller who appears to know about your complaint or refund does not necessarily mean the request is legitimate.

Report suspicious activity

If you suspect fraud or notice any unusual activity on your account, contact Emirates NBD immediately through the official channels.
