Emirates NBD recognised by world's enterprise data leader for delivering 'big data' regional first

Dubai, 21 November 2018: Emirates NBD, a leading financial institution in the Middle East, is pleased to announce that it has received the “Best Big Data Implementation in Banking for Next Generation Analytics” Award from Infomatica, the world’s enterprise data management leader.

The award recognises Emirates NBD’s efforts as the first bank in the region to establish a fully-automated ingestion framework as it prepares to launch its Enterprise Data Platform (EDP). The EDP is scheduled for imminent launch and represents a key capability for Emirates NBD’s four-year AED 1 billion digital transformation strategy.

The EDP’s ingestion framework uses Infomatica’s Big Data Management tool, leveraging meta-data with full automation and scalability, and the ability to load thousands of internal and external bank data sources. By providing high-speed data ingestion and integration, this will deliver a critical foundation of the bank’s EDP to ultimately achieve large volumes of unified data access across Emirates NBD.

Emirates NBD’s four-year digital transformation is now in its second phase. The transformation initiative was announced in 2016 and includes an end-to-end upgrade of Emirates NBD’s capabilities across data, as well as IT architecture, infrastructure and security, and in terms of its IT-business model.
