You can deposit a cheque into your account through one of our many branches, Cheque Deposit Machines (CDMs) or Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs).

We have these machines in several locations as well as in all our branches to make it easier for you. Find a branch close to you. On the locator, you can also type in CDM or ITM to find one close by.

How to deposit a cheque

You can deposit up to 25 cheques per transaction at a CDM or ITM. Carry your Emirates ID with you and have your debit card handy or make sure you know your account number.

When will my money be in my account?

The processing and clearing time for cheques depends on the type of cheque and the channel used.

Emirates NBD cheques deposited at an Emirates NBD branch will be processed the same working day if the cheque is deposited before 10am, else the next working day.

Emirates NBD cheques deposited at an Emirates NBD CDM on a working day before 2pm, will be processed the same day. Cheques deposited later than 2pm and on weekends or public holiday will be processed the next working day.

Emirates NBD cheques deposited at an Emirates Islamic CDM, it will be processed within 3 to 4 working days.

All other local bank cheques deposited at Emirates NBD branches or CDMs, will be processed and cleared the same working day if deposited before 10am, otherwise they’ll be cleared the next working day.

Other local bank cheques deposited at an Emirates Islamic CDM, will be processed within 3 to 4 working days.

Regarding international cheques and demand drafts, if you are sending a cheque which is in GCC currency, it takes up to 25 days to be processed. For other currencies, it can take up to 30 to 40 days to be processed. If you are expecting to receive an international cheque, once the cheque is processed, it will be deposited in your account within 5 days.

Manager’s cheques are processed the same working day if the cheque is deposited before 1pm, else the next working day.

Only Emirates NBD cheques can be deposited in an Emirates NBD ITM.

You can use your debit/credit card when depositing a cheque. If you are manually entering your account number, then you will need to insert your Emirates ID.

Yes, you can deposit a manager’s cheque at a CDM as long it is an account payee cheque. 

International cheques or demand drafts need to be deposited at a branch. These cheques are processed within 21 to 45 working days.

Your cheque can be returned to you for any of the reasons below:

  • You don't have a sufficient balance in your account
  • The person who signed the cheque is not authorised
  • The signature on the cheque does not match with the bank records, or the cheque isn’t signed at all
  • The date is missing, or the cheque is more than 6 months old
  • The payee’s name is missing
  • The cheque is issued in an invalid currency
  • The cheque details are incorrect
  • The amount is words and the figures don't match

If a cheque is deposited in an Emirates NBD CDM connected to a branch, the cheque can be collected from the same branch the next working day. The cheque will be held at the Emirates NBD branch for 14 days. If it is not claimed, it will be sent to your registered PO Box.

If the cheque is deposited in a standalone CDM, you will be contacted by one of our representatives on how to collect the cheque.

If the cheque is deposited in an Emirates Islamic branch or CDM, you will be contacted by one of our representatives on how to collect the cheque.
