Dubai, 15 October, 2018: Emirates NBD, one of the leading banking groups in the region, in partnership with Community Development Authority (CDA), has announced the third edition of its annual Unity Run. The event, launched under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (People of Determination), aims to promote diversity and the social inclusion of people with disabilities (people of determination) in the UAE, and help transform Dubai into a disability-friendly city by 2020.

Led by Emirates NBD’s flagship advocacy platform #TogetherLimitless, the community event will take place on Friday 16 November at Dubai Silicon Oasis, the event’s venue partner and be open to children and adults of all abilities and ages. This year, organisers have confirmed a record number of participants from centres and associations for people of determination. Participants will be completing an untimed three-kilometer walk followed by a ten kilometer run, wearing customised athletic gear styled to celebrate the UAE flag colours. The run offers free entry to people with disabilities (people of determination) as well as their friends and family, and supports two major UAE educational institutions, Al Noor Training Centre for Persons with Disabilities and Senses Residential and Day Care Centre, in addition to Emirates Red Crescent.

Husam Al Sayed, Group Chief Human Resource Officer, Emirates NBD said, “As champions for the inclusion of people of determination across every aspect of society, Emirates NBD is proud to launch the third edition of the Unity Run, a community programme that encourages people of all abilities to come together towards a shared purpose. We are grateful for the continued support from our public sector partners including the Executive Council of Dubai and the Higher Committee as we strongly believe in the power of collaboration between private and public sector entities to create a truly diverse, accessible and inclusive environment for everyone in the UAE, aligned to the #MyCommunity vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council.”

Dr Juma Al Matrooshi, Deputy CEO of Operations and Client Affairs at Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (SOA) said, “Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority is proud to host the Emirates NBD Unity Run for the third consecutive year, in line with its corporate social responsibility strategy that is based on three key pillars – community, human capital, and the environment. As the number of participants continue to grow year on year, we look forward to our continued involvement in this special initiative and wish all those involved in this year's event, every success."
