Activate Smart Pass

Authorise your Online and Mobile Banking transactions instantly and securely

What is Smart Pass?

Smart Pass is Emirates NBD’s digital banking security feature that serves as a secure replacement for SMS authorisation codes.

Once you activate Smart Pass, you can authorise all your Online and Mobile Banking transactions and requests instantly using a Smart Pass PIN or token you can generate instantly on your Mobile Banking app.

System requirements

To successfully activate and use Smart Pass, please ensure that you’re using the latest version of the Emirates NBD mobile app and that your mobile device meets the following requirements:

  • Android version 8 or above / IOS version 10.3 or above
    • To know what Android version you have on your phone, go to Settings > About Device/Phone > Software information
    • To know which IOS version is running on your phone, go to Settings > General > About > Software Version
  • The Date and Time settings on your mobile device should be set as Automatic

Activate Smart Pass now

If you have migrated from the old app to ENBD X

  • Log in with your username and password
  • A banner will appear to activate Smart Pass. Tap Activate Now.
  • Review the terms and conditions and Slide to Confirm
  • Verify your registered email address and enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number
  • Enter and confirm your new Smart Pass PIN and tap Next

Your Smart Pass will be activated instantly.

 

Through Profile and Settings

  • Log in to Mobile Banking
  • Tap  on the top left corner of the app
  • Tap Security and under Smart Pass, tap Set a new PIN
  • Set and confirm your new Smart Pass PIN
  • Verify your registered email address and enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number

Your Smart Pass will be activated instantly.

 

Through Services

  • Log in to Mobile Banking
  • Tapon the bottom of the app
  • Tap Apply for New Service > Profile > Activate Smart Pass or search ‘smart’ and select it from your search results
  • Set and confirm your new Smart Pass PIN

Your Smart Pass will be activated instantly.

 

If you are doing a transaction but don’t have Smart Pass

If you are not registered for Smart Pass and you are trying to complete any transaction that requires Smart Pass PIN, you will be prompted to activate your Smart Pass. Follow the steps below:

  • Tap Activate Now displayed on the banner
  • Review the terms and conditions and Slide to Confirm
  • Verify your registered email address and enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number
  • Enter and confirm your new Smart Pass PIN and tap Next

Once you complete your activation, you will be able to continue with your transaction on your app.

 

FAQs

No, you can only activate Smart Pass on one mobile device at any given time. If you already have your Smart Pass configured to a mobile device, activating it on any other device will deactivate it on your first device.

To activate Smart Pass on a new mobile device, you will first need to deactivate it from the previous one. To do so, download the ENBD X mobile app in your new device and log in with your username and password. A banner will appear that this is not your Smart Pass registered device. Tap on proceed and follow the instructions through phone banking to deactivate your Smart Pass.

Once your Smart Pass is deactivated, log in to your ENBD X app again and follow steps above to activate your Smart Pass.

No, a mobile device can be configured with only one user’s Smart Pass.
Yes, you can. Once you enable this, you'll be authorising your transactions via touch ID or face ID.
