When should I use a demand draft as opposed to a cheque?

A demand draft is a pay order that is issued by the bank in favour of a certain person or entity. Demand drafts can be issued in all major currencies and can be drawn by your payee at any bank internationally. Unlike a cheque, when you place a request for a demand draft, the funds are debited from your account and will be paid to the recipient when the demand draft is drawn upon.
