Exchangers exchanging their time for good
Our super volunteers have been spotted all over the city, bringing smiles and brightening the day. Here are some of the volunteer programmes and workshops that keep us buzzing.
Volunteer Financial Coaches
The #moneywise Financial Coaching Programme is made up of volunteer financial experts and professionals that provide one-on-one coaching sessions to Emirates NBD employees who are seeking help in developing action plans for managing their finances, needed professional advice and plans, and embarking on a process of change in personal mindsets and behaviors that can lead to developing habits for a secure financial future.
Banker for a Day
Banker for a Day is an Exchanger Programme initiative that began in 2011 to provide students in the 11th and 12th grades with an understanding of how the finance industry works and the professions that make the banking sector a rewarding career choice. Employees from the departments and/or branches involved volunteer their time to mentor, interact, and provide hands-on experience. There had been more than 180 sessions, 580 volunteering hours and 1,013 students participated in the Banker for a Day initiative.

Emirates Exchanger Programme is continuing the earlier Private 'Keep the Creek Clean' water conservation initiative as part of a long-term commitment to supporting water conservation and security in the UAE. This initiative aims to clean and preserve the UAE's waterways, protect our coastal ecosystems and marine life from plastic and marine debris. Volunteering opportunities for Emirates NBD Exchangers include desert, beach, kayak, and ocean cleanup. The environmental volunteering activities will be expanded to include coral reef restoration in 2022. For more information, visit this page and Emirates NBD's social media channels.
The Exchanger Programme included mangrove planting in its volunteering activities as part of our advocacy for environmental conservation and support for the UAE's pledge to plant 100 million trees by 2030, and it has since become a group activity of different departments.
Ramadan Volunteering Activities
During the holy month of Ramadan, Emirates NBD Exchanger Programme partners with government entities, non-profit group and private sectors in over 100+ volunteering activities.
Exchangers from across the bank team up to refresh the walls and halls in schools and centres for students with disabilities. This effort helps to enrich the learning environment for students and provides a great opportunity for our employees to work on their team building skills and give back through physical labour.
Migrant Workers Initiatives
Under Emirates NBD’s CSR pillar of Community Development Exchanger Programme partners with different consulates, non-profit groups within the UAE to assist the underprivileged migrant workers. Various ongoing activities where Exchangers assist such as Ramadan-themed activities: iftar meal distributions, labour camps visit; financial literacy workshops; medical missions; legal outreach; blood donations and community development activities.
The Emirates NBD Unity Run is the leading community event in the UAE, supporting people of determination and promoting the cause of inclusiveness in all areas of society. Exchangers provide full event support.
Art Sessions with student with disabilities
Crafty Ceramic painting sessions and Crazy Canvases art classes are two volunteering activities in which Exchanger Programme volunteers work with students from different schools and centers for people with disabilities to explore various painting themes, hone their talents, and translate their ideas into amazing art pieces.
Learn & Discover
Exchanger Programme volunteers accompany students on visits to interactive children’s play museum, indoor botanical rainforest, interactive edu-play centres, Kidzania and Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo. Students have the opportunity to learn, discover, and engage in new experiences through these activities.
Emirates NBD has a year-long volunteer program with the Al Manzil School & Al Hawas Al Khams Rehabilitation Centre through which groups of Exchangers visit the center 3-4 times a week to participate in various classroom activities with the students. These include: storytime, dance classes, Arabic classes, cooking lessons, yoga sessions, classroom maintenance, beading and work-skills development.
‘Our Exchangers’ Story
"The most inspiring volunteering event for me was ‘Clean Up UAE’ as I feel that environmentally responsible behavior is an essential part of our philosophy and I hope more such activities will be organized to spread environmental awareness."
