Your Emirates NBD Emirati Debit Card is a card which allows you instant access to funds in your account and/or any agreed overdraft facility on your account, saving you the need to withdraw cash. Your card will help you manage your finances and monitor your spending, as all transactions made with your card will appear on your bank account statement(s).
A debit card is a "buy now, pay now" option, whereas a credit card is a "buy now, pay later option". Therefore, when you use your Emirati Debit Card, there will be no monthly repayments and hence no interest will be charged.
The "AUTHENTICATION CODE" for a Debit Card is a unique four-digit number that will be sent by SMS to your mobile number registered with the bank in case of:
The "Authentication Code" sent for Activation of new/ replaced Debit Card or reset of PIN will be valid for 30 days from the date the SMS is sent to you, and can be used only once. The Authentication Code sent for online transactions is valid for 5 minutes from the time it is sent to you.
You can simply call us at +971 60054000 and follow the prompts to generate another Authentication Code for your Debit Card. In case of online transactions, you can click on the "Resend Authentication Code" link on the pop up on the merchant page. If the authentication code has expired, the merchant page on which you are transacting would in most cases have expired in 5 minutes too. In such a case, you will need to initiate the transaction again and a new Authentication Code will be sent to you.
To activate your renewed Emirati Debit Card, you will have to create a new PIN. However, your old Debit Card PIN will be required to set up the new PIN for your renewed Debit Card. Please refer to the detailed instructions on the reverse of the card mailer sent with your renewed Debit Card, or call us at +971 60054000.
You will get a Debit Card with a new card number.
Your existing Emirati Debit Card will be automatically deactivated upon successful activation of the new card. Please make sure to destroy your old Debit Card by cutting it diagonally before disposal.
Your Debit Card enables you to use up to the "Daily Purchase Limit" and "Daily ATM Limit" mentioned on your card mailer, as long as you have sufficient funds in your account or you are within your agreed overdraft facility. However, you can change the Daily Purchase Limit by calling us at +971 60054000 or visiting your nearest Emirates NBD branch (Terms and conditions apply).
When you make purchases with your Emirati Debit Card, the transactions will appear on your account statement, along with deposits, processed cheques, ATM withdrawals and other transactions. Having all your transactions in one statement will help you manage your account balances better.
As a security measure to protect your Emirati Debit Card from misuse, your card will be temporarily unusable and may even be captured by the ATM if you enter a wrong PIN multiple times. You will have to call us at +971 60054000 to reset your PIN or unblock your card.
You can reset or change your Emirati Debit Card PIN through your Online and Mobile banking channels after signing in under the Debit cards menu. Keep your registered mobile number handy to receive OTP, required for PIN change. Alternatively, you need to call us at +971 60054000 and a call center representative will guide you through the steps needed to reset your PIN for your Emirati Debit Card.

Yes, you may change your Emirati debit card daily purchase limits at any time through your Mobile Banking app available under the Debit Cards menu. You can also do that by calling us at +971 60054000 or by visiting any of your neared Emirates NBD branches.
For daily cash withdrawal limit we do not recommend changing it. In case of emergency you can call us at +971 60054000.
Once we receive your request, the requested change in the limit will be updated instantly.
You can decrease the daily purchase and cash withdrawal limits on your Emirati Debit Card as well.
If the name on your Emirati Debit Card is incorrect, you can always call us at +971 60054000 and request for a replacement card with the correct name. You can also visit your nearest Emirates NBD branch and request for the same.
Prior to expiration of your Emirati Debit Card, you should automatically receive the renewed card. If you have not received the same, please contact us at +971 60054000.
You will be required to activate your Emirati Debit Card and generate your card PIN before first use. Please refer to the section "Activating your Debit Card". After successful activation, you are ready to start using your card at supermarkets, restaurants and other establishments around the world.
No, you have to set your Emirati Debit Card PIN while activating your card either over the phone, by calling us at +971 60054000, or by visiting any Emirates NBD ATM.
It is advised for you to have a mobile number whilst using your Debit Card to ensure that we provide any important updates to you instantly including transaction alerts. Also, the "Authentication code" required for Debit Card activation, PIN reset and to complete online purchases & payments with your Debit Card will be sent to your mobile number registered with the Bank. Please ensure that your mobile number is updated in the bank's records at all times.
You can use your Credit or Debit Cards abroad to make purchases and to withdraw local currency from cash machines as and when you need it.
Check your card to make sure it is valid. If your card is expiring before you travel and you have not received your renewed card, please call us at our helpline +971 60054000.
Keep a note of your card number and the Emirates NBD helpline number in a safe place separate from your physical card.
Keep your registered mobile number active even when you travel abroad to ensure you receive SMS alerts for every transaction on your card. We will continue to monitor your account for fraud and unusual transactions whilst you're abroad. We'll contact you if we detect unusual activity. If you keep your mobile phone with you, you'll be able to confirm genuine transactions as soon as we contact you.

Please be advised, as you will be using your Emirati Debit Card in a currency other than UAE Dirhams (AED), the transaction amount will be converted to AED on the day it is debited from your account. The exchange rate used is determined by Visa. Please note that there is a currency conversion fee for all foreign transactions. Overseas ATM cash withdrawals will also incur an international ATM withdrawal fee, which will be detailed separately on your statement. Some retail merchants have Dynamic Currency Conversion built into their card acceptance system. This allows them to offer you a choice of paying the bill in UAE Dirhams or the local currency. It is recommended to avoid Foreign Currency Transaction Fee Conversion and pay your bill in local currency as higher margin and charges are typically applied by the retailers if you opt to convert your transactions to UAE Dirhams.
It is not mandatory to inform the bank if you are travelling outside UAE and intend to use your card.
