Emirates NBD Greenland Quest
Emirates NBD supports leading explorer Adrian Hayes on his Greenland Expedition to raise awareness in the UAE about environmental issues. The Emirates NBD Greenland Quest: The Atlantic to Arctic Expedition 2009 sees Mr Hayes, a Dubai resident, attempt a unique, journey across the full length of Greenland with two colleagues, Devon Mc-Diarmid and Derek Crowe. If completed, this will be the longest unassisted Arctic polar expedition in history.
The expedition involves both trekking and kite surfing to traverse Greenland vertically. Along the way, the team will be assessing the damage done to the Greenland ice cap and will be recording their findings on the official website: www.greenlandquest.com. The expedition is expected to last between 60 and 70 days.
Sustainability will be a key focus of the expedition, and Mr Hayes and his team will provide a fully integrated programme which allows Emirates NBD to extend the bank's own green environmental message "Greenland 4 a Green Land" to schools and educational establishments throughout the UAE.
Emirates NBD is also offering four cash prizes of AED 5000 to schools who show the most engagement in the Emirates NBD Greenland Quest and who can demonstrate how they would utilize their award to make their school environment greener.
